Lumigrate.com is an Internet-based health education company which has set out to provide valid, progressive information in a streamlined and FUN way. Lumigrate has been carefully designed with the intention of providing a balance of information about treating the body, mind and spirit, which is known as ‘integrative medicine’ but many people have never heard that term. The logo represents ‘integration’, which basically means ‘to bring together’, by the weaving of two green and purple strands. The light coming from the center circle is “Lighting the path to health and well-being”, which is also part of the Lumigrate logo.
People today want information presented in a variety of means that technology changes on a daily basis, and Lumigrate is always looking to meet those demands in order to reach people with the critical and desired information it provides. Currently, this includes video, written/readable content and now podcasts, which will include transcriptions in the future for those who want to read or refer back to a written document.
This has been created gradually since late 2007 by Lumigrate’s founding director and sole owner, Mardy Ross. She is an occupational therapist from Colorado whose OT career began, and was significantly affected by the chronic illnesses known today as ‘chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia’. Transitioning from administration of a government visibility monitoring program to a second professional career in medicine in the mid 1990s, she saw the changes in health care in the US and it’s effect on her career and that of the professionals around her. She also experienced the frustrations of health care as a person with insurance and lack of quality and progressive information and expertise, and saw that there was a solution she could provide for taking patient education to a format such as the Internet.
Occupational therapy has to do with anything that ‘occupies time’ and the occupation of one’s health care is a key component for any person, particularly when viewing it through the lense of ‘integrative medicine’, which is what Lumigrate provides through a growing complement of experts in the various desired disciples such as naturopathy, bio-identical hormone replacement, acupuncture and Oriental medicine, psychology, social work, skin care and beauty advise, and even a Yenta who provides supportive education realted to the concepts being presented on Lumigrate.
